Fossil fuel vs electrons

This old vs new school trend started with Tesla. Its high-performance models were taking on, and beating almost ever supercar that lined up alongside. Then came the Porsche Taycan in various guises, not least of all the Turbo S version.

Watch the Porsche Taycan Turbo S race a McLaren in this video.

The range-leading Taycan Turbo S has 560 kW of power and a mammoth 1 050 N.m of torque on tap from the moment the two electric motors start spinning. Each motor drives one axle, making the Taycan all-wheel-drive – very good for drag racing. Porsche says the most powerful Taycan can blitz the zero-to-100 km/h sprint in just 2,8 seconds.

Representing the old school brigade is the Lamborghini Aventador SV. The big bull is powered by a 6,5-litre V12 doesn’t need the help of any form of forced-induction to produce 552 kW of power and 690 N.m of torque. The Lambo may lack in the torque department but it does have a much lower mass. Drive is delivered to all four wheels via a single-clutch transmission. The claimed 0-100 km/h time is an identical 2,8 seconds to the Taycan Turbo S, which should make it an interesting match-up.
