There were many interesting and wacky machines shown at the 2022 Sema Show. You can see many of them in our Sema mega gallery. This V10 powered E30 M3 may not be one of the wilder creations, but it is really beautiful with incredible attention to detail and is worth taking a closer look at.

Custom Creations

US company Renner Projekts showed three creations at the show. The V10 powered E30 M3 was one of the trio. The other two cars on show were an E31 BMW 8 Series and an E28 BMW 5 Series. Click here to check out a beautiful BMW 850i. The most interesting for most SA fans will be the original M3.

M5 Power

Renner completely took apart a first-gen M3 and stripped it down to bare metal. They then rebuit it with a host of modern conveniences as well as a new engine.

Centre stage of the restomod is a 5,0-litre V10 that once lived in an E60 M5. The engine was modified before installation and now develops 466 kW, a 91 kW increase over standard. Renner also replaces the standard SMG transmission with a six-speed manual. Other upgrades include a newly braced both as well as a coilover suspension set up.

Stock Appearance

The standard E30’s lines were preserved. However, Renner covered the boxy shape with its signature flare arches with a custom colour. The biggest visual change are a set of custom 18-inch alloys. The bespoke rims are a cross between ‘turbofans’ of the 1980s and the cross-spoke design that early performance BMWs were known for.
