Thanks to the guys over at LoveCars we get to watch Taycan Turbo S vs McLaren 720S battle over 402 metres. The battery powered Porsche has become a bit of supercar slayer. The Taycan Turbo S has 560 kW of power and a gargantuan 1 050 N.m of torque on tap from the moment the two electric motors start spinning. Each motor powers one axle, making the Taycan all-wheel-drive. Porsche says the most powerful Taycan can blitz the zero-to-100 km/h run in just 2,8 seconds and tops out at 260 km/h. Completely fed by petrol, the McLaren 720S is one of the quickest accelerating supercars on sale today. The Spider version (as seen here) is powered by the same 4,0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine used in the Coupe. It produces 530 kW and 770 N.m of torque. Power is fed solely to the rear axle via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. McLaren claims the drop-top has identical acceleration figures as the Coupe. It can sprint to from 0-100 km/h in 2,9 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 7,9 seconds. Top speed with the roof in place is quoted as 341 km/h and with it lowered that figure dwindles to a “paltry” 325 km/h.
