Old Look…

Theon Design applies the same kind of treatment that has become the norm with companies looking to back-date a 911. The start with a 964 generation 911, in this case a Carrera 4S. They then clothe the newer unibody in a slightly older-looking suit, reminiscent of earlier 911s.

The suit in this case is fashioned from carbon-fibre and has been given a slight tweak to make the rear haunches that little bit more muscular, and to completely envelope the 18-inch Fuchs alloys. Replacing the metal skin with the lightweight material results in a car that weighs just 1 152 kg all up. Not bad considering how porky some modern-day sportscars have become.

…New Tech

Under that retro-looking skin are several modern touches. The tastiest of these is the 4,0-litre flat-six. The naturally aspirated unit develops about 300 kW/430 N.m, pretty handy when you consider the low mass. Other upgrades on the Theon Design 911 include a six-speed manual transmission, nicked from a 992 RS, that is allied to a limited-slip differential. There’s also an active suspension
