MST Cars unveils the Mk2 Evo-X Carbon-Fibre RS2000, a lighter weight version of its own take on the classic Mk2 Escort. MST has made something of a name for itself producing parts for classic Fords. They went even further by developing entire body shells of Mk1 Escorts and Mk2 versions as well. But its latest creation could be its coolest yet.

A Modern Nod to the Past

The Mk2 Evo-X Carbon-Fibre body is a take on the classic Mk2 RS2000 X-pack as unveiled in the 1970s. This full shell keeps the original car’s lines, but drops 75 per cent of the mass of the steel panels. As a result the end product weighs approximately 800 kg. The final mass is dependent on whether you want a road car, or full race-spec machine, which can be as light as 750 kg.

NA Power

The Mk2 Evo-X Carbon-Fibre is powered by a 2,8-litre inline four. This naturally aspirated unit is produced by race specialists Millington. The high-revving unit develops  just shy of 270 kW. Power is sent exclusively to the rear axle. Owners can choose between a traditional H-gate manual or sequential options. Other race-inspired tech includes six-pot calipers from AP Racing, an independent suspension set-up, adjustable coilovers, and 17-inch alloys.
