Subarus are no strangers to the world of modification. Since the very day owners started to see cars similar to their own being flung around rally tracks the bug must’ve bitten. Regardless of what manner of conversion or modification you’ve seen on a Scooby before, the SubViper is probably the maddest of the lot.

Twin-turbo madness

Most often Subarus will feature more hardcore versions of their turbocharged boxer motors, bigger turbochargers, higher-flow injectors and massive intercoolers are part of the game. In rare cases you will see an engine swap from one Subaru model to another, as is the case with this car. But European drifter Oscar Ruiz Trave has taken the Subaru modification game up to a whole new level.

Drifters have a habit of producing interesting machines to go sideways. Check out this Hyundai drift bus and this Volvo-powered Mercedes C-Class as prime examples. The European drifter removed the motor from his Impreza and replaced it with the 8,3-litre V10 from a Dodge Viper, creating the SubViper. For Oscar the power from the V10 wasn’t enough so he strapped on a supercharger. Soon enough that crank-driven compressor made way for pair of Garrett turbochargers. The net result is a power output that is just shy of 900 kW with 1 600 N.m of torque. Oh, and the SubViper is no longer all-wheel-drive, instead it sends all of its power to the rear axle.

You can see the SubViper in all its flame-spitting glory in the video below. If you know of a more extreme Subaru let us know on our Facebook page in the comments section below the link to this story.
