McMurtry Automotive announced itself to the world when its diminutive Spéirling grabbed the all-time Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb record last year. That was a prototype racer, but the McMurtry Spéirling Pure has been created as a limited-run special that will be available to just 100 owners. Oh, and if you are wondering, each will cost a little shy of R20m.

Thomas Yates, founding director: “The Spéirling Pure will herald a new era on the track. The sound, grip, acceleration, aesthetics and technology of this car are distinct. Witnessing the car as a spectator or from the cockpit offers a rare and exhilarating experience. With pre-orders from around the globe, I can’t wait for fan cars at the racetrack to become a new normality.”

Electric Power

The McMurtry Spéirling Pure is based around a carbon-fibre monocoque, which means it tips the scales at under one ton. It also has 745 kW of power from its all-electric drivetrain. The company says the Pure will top 305 km/h, but makes no acceleration claims for this latest derivative.

New Heights

The McMurtry Spéirling Pure is aiming to elevate levels of performance that mere mortals can attain. It is touted as an uncompromising single seater, track-only hypercar. The car’s patented fan and sealed side-skirt technology will allow cornering speeds of up to 3G.

McMurty says the car will be able to participate in select track events around the world as part of the GT1 Sports Club. An exclusive hypercar driving programme held during the SRO GT World Challenge race weekends.
