Manthey Racing and Porsche have a long history that is linked by motorsport. The former has campaigned Porsches in several race series with high levels of success. In 2013, Porsche AG acquired a 51 per cent stake in the company. The German outfit, based at the Nurburgring, has been in existence for 25 years. To celebrate this occasion Porsche Motorsport has built a special model called the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25.

Limited edition

Just 30 units of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 will be produced. This is a track-only special that has been created for the lucky few who get to keep really expensive toys just for track days. This is, in all likelihood, the very last 991 series 911 that will be produced as the 992 generation has been on sale for some time now.

Check out our list of track-only supercars here: Part One and Part Two.

This new creation is based on the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, just like the other track-only special that Porsche produced in 2018 called the 935 (click here for more info). Under the engine cover is a twin-turbocharged 3,8-litre flat-six engine that produces 515 kW. Power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox

Motorsport inspired

The 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 was heavily inspired by racing cars from the brand, in particular, a 911 GT3 R that is campaigned by Manthey Racing at the Nurburgring, known as ‘Grello’ by the fans.

Check out how quick the new Porsche 911 Turbo S is in independent testing.

Taking cues from Grello the Clubsport 25 has double flics on the outside of the front bumper to increase downforce on the front axle. From a hardware perspective the new car features 18-inch rims with centre-lock rims. The new car has a wider track than a ‘regular’ 911 GT2 RS Clubsport. The interior includes a welded-in safety cage that complies with FIA standards.

There’s a closed underbody and a completely redesigned carbon-fibre front lid. A centrally-positioned NACA duct supplies fresh air to the driver. Flared wheel arches open into vertical vents for hot exhaust air. The rear wing features new side plates and goose-neck mounts for uninterrupted airflow. A functional diffuser works in conjunction with a newly designed exhaust system.

In his own words

“With the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 special edition, which we designed and developed in conjunction with Porsche Motorsport, we’ve reached another milestone in the 25-year history of Manthey. It’s a perfect example of our guiding principle ‘Closer to Perfection,’” states Nicolas Raeder, managing director of Manthey-Racing GmbH. “With every modification, technological function always takes priority. That’s why the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 has its very own character, which also reflects our brand values: straightforward and meticulous, flexible and uncompromising.”
