Did you ever look at a quad bike and think: that looks too safe, it could probably do with a V10 motor? Well, it seems that’s what Viktor Engler did before setting about to create the madness that is the Engler FF SuperQuad.

Four-wheel madness

The Engler FF SuperQuad starts a new segment of ultra-high performance machinery that sits between supercar and superbike. Engler has made a custom frame for its unique four-wheel creation, which is clothed in a carbon-fibre body. The dimensions seem quite close to that of modern hatchback. All in the SuperQuad is said to weigh 1 100 kg.

Under the lightweight skin is a 5,2-litre V10 engine (no, seriously). As if that wasn’t enough, the motor is force fed by a pair of turbochargers that help ramp power up to 820 kW (1 100 bhp for a power-to-mass ratio of 1:1). Engler doesn’t quote the source of the motor, but judging by those Audi R8 head- and taillamps we have a good idea where it started life. The Engler SuperQuad is said to sprint from rest to 100 km/h in 2,5 seconds and it has a top speed of 350 km/h

Helping to haul it down from those speeds is a Brembo carbon-ceramic braking system that measures a whopping 400 mm at the front (with 10-piston calipers) and 380 mm at the rear (clamped by four-pot calipers). The brakes are covered by lightweight, forged 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in sticky Michelin rubber. The Engler FF rides on a custom suspension set-up that offers a lift function, which can be controlled remotely via an app on one’s mobile phone. Oh, and there’s a tandem seat, so you can scare anyone brave enough to ride pillion with you.
