Subarus come from the Far East and Porsches come from Western Europe. Porsche has had countless success at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Subaru built its performance reputation on the world rally stage. The area they do overlap is in terms of their famous flat engine layout. And that could have been the inspiration for this SuPoru GT3 STi.

Showstopper

The SuPoru GT3 STi was shown for the first time at the 2022 Sema Show. You can check out a gallery of images from the show on our Facebook page. DevSpeed Motorsports started this project with a crashed Porsche 911 GT3. The 997 series GT3 was bought without an engine. This made it an ideal candidate for an engine transplant that is probably the first of its kind in the world.

Flat-four Turbo Power

A heavily modified EJ25 boxer ie flat-four from a Subaru Impreza STI takes the place of the naturally aspirated flat-six engine from Porsche. The 2,5-litre engine boasts a new BorgWarner turbocharger, new intercooler, camshafts, and fuel injectors. Oh and it breathes through a custom exhaust system.

Reports suggest that the Subaru engine now produces 405 kW, which is 100 more than the standard 3,6-litre mill that the Porsche left the factory with. That’s a pretty handy number considering the cars weighs about 80 kg less than the GT3 did as standard.

Mix and Match

The SuPoru GT3 STi has a new bodykit. The new appearance  features a pronounced splitter, wider vented fenders, a carbon-fibre roof panel and a new rear bumper. The car was covered in yellow and metallic blue. This livery is a reminder of Subarus rally cars. It also has a set of gold-coloured alloys to keep up the theme.
