Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is an American small-scale, sportscar manufacturer. The firm’s founding member, James Glickenhaus, is a movie producer and avid car enthusiast. Like many car fans, he dreamed of making his own sportscar. A few years ago, he did just that when the SCG released the SCG 003, a race-bred road car. Now the American company has just released images and information regarding the SCG 006 Coupe and SCG 006 Spyder retro sportscars.

SCG also plan to build a hypercar to compete in the new rules which come into play for the World Endurance Championship in 2020/21. You can read more about that car by clicking here.

Old but new

The two new models take inspiration iconic sportscars of the 1960s. Like Ferraris of the era the SCG 003 twins have long bonnets and short rear overhangs. Side exit exhausts are similar to those seen on the famous AC Cobra. In keeping with SCG’s racecar expertise both new cars will use carbon-fibre for their outer skin.

Under those long bonnets is an engine sourced from General Motors. A 6,2-litre V8 is borrowed from the current Corvette Z06. The supercharged bent eight produces 485 kW. It is mated with a six-speed transaxle that drives the rear wheels, like a proper old-school sportscar. Owners can choose between a manual transmission or the option of paddle shifters.

In keeping with their motorsport inclinations, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus plans to create a GT4-spec racecar based on the new model.

In their own words

“We are designing the Glickenhaus Coupe and the Glickenhaus Spyder together to make fun road cars. Thirty Founders will join the adventure from the beginning, and experience what it is like to take a dream from a rendering in 2018, to a finished car with deliveries in 2019-2020. We already have a number of Founders on board, and we have space for several more.”
