The new Honda Civic Type R has been one of the most highly anticipated hot hatches in recent times. Especially after its predecessor, the FK8, had its title of front-wheel drive production car record holder usurped by the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S.

Now, the FL5  Civic Type R has taken revenge for its older sibling by eclipsing the Golf’s lap and setting a time on the full 20.832 km as instituted in 2019. The FL5 is powered by a turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder motor that produces 243 kW and 420 Nm of torque.
