The Ferrari SP1 and SP2 twins (the digits refer to the seating count) are limited edition Ferraris produced under a new umbrella, known as Icona. Reports suggest that just 100 units of each derivative will be produced, which makes it quite surprising that some someone has given up their car to produce the Novitec Ferrari Monza SP1.

High-speed hairdryer

The street-legal Monza SP1 and SP2 afford “barchetta” (open top) travel to a lucky few. As if driving with no roof, or windscreen, wasn’t enough, both cars are powered by the same high-revving 6,5-litre V12 found in the Ferrari 812 SuperFast (as driven by one of our international correspondents). In standard form the naturally aspirated engine produces 600 kW, which is sent to the rear wheels via a twin-clutch transmission.

As is usually the case, the German tuning house has liberated even more ponies from the Novitec Ferrari Monza SP1. Peak power is now rated as 621 kW at 8 450 r/min. The increase comes mainly from the installation of a tailor-made high-performance exhaust system and metal catalytic converters. This system can be set to deliver various levels of volume via a switch in the cabin (have a listen in the video below). Peak torque is up by 61 N.m to 780 N.m. The Novitec Ferrari SP1 is said to sprint from rest to 100 km/h in 2,8 seconds with a top speed “far north of 300 km/h”.

Bespoke appearance

Novitec also adds its own bespoke touches to the car’s appearance. The company will fit more compact springs to reduce the ground clearance by 35 mm. The new ride height is complimented by the option of staggered forged wheels with diameters of 21 and 22 inches. Novitec says these are the lightest examples of alloys wheels in these dimensions. The NF10 alloys of 21x10J front and 22×12,5J rears are wrapped with 275/30 and 335/25 tyres, respectively.
