Milan Red is a bird of prey, I guess it would be a lesser-known bird of prey as I had not heard of it until today. The only reason petrolheads should care about this fact, is that it is also the name of an Austrian hypercar that made its debut yesterday.

An Austrian first

Yes, you read that correctly, this hypercar is made in Austria. It is the brainchild of 36-year old Markus Fux, CEO of Milan-Automotive GmbH, Austria’s only maker of such vehicles.

The firm has made extensive use of Austrian automotive knowledge and supply network to create a unique proposition. The supplier list includes engine specialist AVL among other specialist automotive and motorsport vendors.

Numbers game

Prospective buyers will be interested to learn that the Milan Red makes almost 1 000 kW and 1 400 N.m of torque from a quad-turbocharged V8. Power is delivered to the rear axle via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The company claims that its first car weighs a scant 1 300 kg thanks in part to full carbon-fibre construction, which includes body panels, the tub and a first for road cars, the wishbones are all made from the lightweight material.

Vital performance stats are quite impressive. The benchmark zero-to-100 km/h sprint is said to take 2,47 seconds and from standstill it can reach 300 km/h in under 10 seconds. Top speed is rated as over 400 km/h. According to the press release the Milan Red can generate over 2,5 G of lateral force, which means it is no straight line specialist.

Limited-edition show stealer

In the CEO’s words: “Nowadays you can drive an artistic car, a high-tech-monster, a throne on four wheels – or a car, that only serves one purpose: stealing everyone the show. And this is where we come into play.”

Milan-Automotive is aiming to build just 99 of this new creation and according to the company 18 are already spoken for.
