The Toyota GR Corolla was unveiled last year. At the time it was unclear if the car would go on sale in SA. Today we learned the news that the GR Corolla has been confirmed for sale locally. This takes the list of Gazoo Racing-developed models up to four, namely the GR Supra, GR Yaris and GR86.

Turbo Triple

The GR Corolla is powered by the same 1,6-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine that is found in the smaller GR Yaris. However, the G16E-GTS unit has been massaged to deliver 221 kW. The engine is available exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission that is connected to an all-wheel-drive system.
