Remember Ferrari’s XX program? It developed a set of track-only machines for Ferrari’s select client. Now the company has applied the same treatment to create the Ferrari SF90 XX, in both Stradale and Spider body styles. Oh, these two XX models are road cars. Only 799 Stradales and 599 Spiders will be produced and all are already sold.

More Power

The same 4,0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 used the ‘regular’ SF90 powers the XX versions. These derivatives also feature the SF90’s three electric motors. However, the more extreme versions have a bit more power at 758 kW, a 22 kW hike. Both versions of the Ferrari SF90 XX can blast from rest to 100 km/h in 2,3 seconds, down from 2.5 seconds for the stock SF90. The top speed of both is quoted as 320 km/h. Best you don’t meet any highly tuned Mk1 Golfs on the road…

Better Aero

But the Ferrari SF90 XX twins aren’t about going fast in a straight line. They have been tuned to deliver better lap times than the normal SF90, although Ferrari has not yet quoted a lap time for the more extreme car at its own, Fiorano, test track.

The massive fixed rear wing is the most obvious of the external changes. This device works in conjunction with movable elements on the body to generate high levels of downforce. The wing and adjustable flaps are able to generate 315 kg of downforce at 250 km/h on the rear.

Two S-Ducts on the front help increase front downforce by 20 per cent compared to the SF90 Stradale. The introduction of the louvres on the front wheel arches help create overall front downforce of 325 kg at top speed. A total of 530 kg of downforce is quoted at 250 km/h.
