It seems that just about every few weeks a new hypercar emerges. Consequently, it seems high-end Porsches, Ferraris, McLarens and Bugattis just don’t cut it anymore. Recently, a number of small scale manufacturers from all corners of the globe are getting in on the act. Over the past few years, we’ve seen automakers emerge from countries that are not really known for high-performance automotive products. Here’s a look at the Automobili Pininfarina Battista.

Evocative design

Pininfarina is well-known for its styling work carried out for other carmakers. The Italian styling house has penned evocative shapes that carry the badges of some of the most desirable sports cars ever created. Now the Indian-owned firm (Mahindra took ownership in 2015) has produced its very first standalone product, well, sort of.

Limited run

The Pininfarina Battista is named after the company founder. Interestingly, it uses a powertrain that it sources from Rimac, tyres that come from Pirelli and carbon-ceramic brakes from Brembo and draped it all in a seductive design of its own. An electric motor per corner delivers a total of 1 400 kW and a massive 2 300 N.m of torque. Production of just 150 units began in late 2020.
