We’ve all dreamed of building our very own car collections. Some achieve the dream to a small scale while others shoot the lights out. This collection is an example of the latter. The Elkhart Collection, as it is known, is a 240 car collection that will go under the hammer through RM Sothebys. You can learn More about the author which will allow you to understand better about 20 cars. The 240 car collection belonged to a CEO who was accused of defrauding former clients out of millions last year. He’s declared bankruptcy, and his vehicles will be auctioned off to repay $100 million in liabilities; the collection is said to be worth $31 million.

Variety and rarity

Among the vehicles that will be sold through the RM Sotheby’s auction house on October 23 and 24 are rare and valuable vehicles. These included a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, a 1953 Fiat 8V Supersonic by Ghia (one of 15 ever made) and a 1955 Cooper-Jaguar T38 Mk2 (one of three produced). The latter has racing provenance including six victories at Goodwood and Silverstone during the 1956 and ’57 seasons. There are also 30 motorcycles, trucks, trailers and motoring memorabilia almost without reserve.

Long-term

According to RM Sothebys the 240 car collection is the “culmination of decades of careful and targeted collecting of some of the finest motorcars by a single owner. The focus is at once broad yet highly selective, from sporting British and Italian cars to microcars, classics, supercars, modern sports cars, 1950s convertibles and coach-built icons.
