Budding automotive designer Salvatore Tommaseo is a Ferrari fan. The young stylist recently penned the Project SP4 Le Mans, which draws (no pun intended) heavily from one of the most iconic Ferraris of the recent era, the famed F40.

The SP4 Le Mans is a new hypercar that pays homage to the legendary F40 of the 80s, one of the most admired icons of the automotive world. This project celebrates the union between tradition and innovation, keeping alive the pure essence of Italian racing cars. It represents the meeting point between the past and the future, combining the purity and brutality of historic cars with the most advanced technologies available today

Old Made New
Looking at Project SP4 Le Mans it is easy to see the stylistic links. These include the wraparound windscreen and the NACA ducts on the front clamshell. Additionally, there are larger versions of the five-spoke wheels as worn by the F40. Three vertical air vents are found behind the rear wheels. Most obviously is the large wing and triple exhaust outlets.
Tommaseo imagines the entire body will be made from carbon-fibre, including the front and rear subframes. As a result the supercar will tip the scales at 1 275 kg.

Turbo Power
A twin-turbocharged V8powers the Ferrari F40. The SP4 Le Mans will used a similar engine configuration, but with cubic capacity of 4,0-litres. He estimates the pure ICE powertrain will rev to over 9 000 r/min. In the process it will produce over 820 kW in the process. As a result of the power output and low mass the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 2,4 seconds, while 0 to 200 takes 6,9. 370 km/h is the estimated top speed.
