Porsche’s 911 Turbo S (you can learn more about the new model here) is the newcomer of the pair. In its latest guise the range-topping 911 punches out 478 kW from its twin-turbocharged flat-six engine. Peak torque is now up to a whopping 800 N.m. The 992 Turbo S variants deliver their power via a model-specific eight-speed Porsche twin-clutch transmission (PDK). With launch control the Turbo S can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in a claimed 2,7 seconds and from zero to 200 km/h in 8,9 seconds. Top speed is rated as 330 km/h.

The McLaren 720S features a twin-turbocharged V8 engine that displaces just under four litres. Power is then delivered to the rear wheels via a dual-clutch transmission. The quoted power output is an even 530 kW with 770 N.m of peak torque. Check out the special edition, McLaren Le Mans 720S at this link. Though the McLaren is just rear-wheel-drive its approximately 200 kg lighter than the Porsche. For a rear-wheel-drive car the Mac is a demon off the line and typically outruns most of its rivals. Which car do you think wins in the McLaren 720S vs Porsche 911 Turbo S drag race?
