There are plenty of firm’s that offer resto-modded Porsches. California-based Singer Vehicle Design is one of the better-known options. Check out Singer’s most recent creation by clicking here. Theon Design from the UK is also trying to get in on the act. Read about the UK firm at this link. But soon, they will all be overshadowed by Porsche Project Gold.

An OEM restomod

Project Gold by Porsche Classic is Porsche’s own take on the restomod theme. The German OEM has been drip feeding us with small details, giving us clues and hints as to what the finished project will look like.

For those who don’t know, Porsche Classic is the in-house department responsible for ensuring that older Porsches are still able to be driven. According to the company, 70 per cent of all Porsches ever produced are still on the road today, and via a 52 000-strong parts catalogue it aims to keep older generations running for years to come.

What we know

Porsche has started with a 993 generation 911, the last of the air-cooled Porsches. Judging by the vents in the rear fenders of the bare body shell and the seats seen in the video, Porsche is producing a Turbo restomod. Most firms start with an older, 964 series, 911 and stick with naturally aspirated engines. Of course, Porsche can’t be outdone in either regard.

The chosen colour scheme seems to be gold and black with the warm hue used to detail the five-spoke alloy wheels as well as the recovered seats. We expect the entire body shell to be covered in the same shade.

New Porsche Project Gold videos will debut once a week leading up to its unveiling on August 24. The car will be auctioned, presumably for charity, on October 27 this year.
