A few weeks ago we drove the new Porsche Macan Turbo on its international ride and drive event. Our driving review can be found at this link. Today the family expands to include the Porsche Macan GTS. The company refers to this as the sportiest of the bunch.

More power

The new Porsche Macan GTS is powered by a 2,9-litre V6 engine that delivers 280 kW. Maximum torque of 520 N.m is available from 1 750 to 5 000 r/min. The twin-turbocharged petrol motor is mated with a newly adapted PDK dual-clutch transmission. Porsche says that, with the optional Sport Chrono package fitted, the Macan GTS can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4,7 seconds, and it has a top speed of 261 km/h.

Other changes

The ride height has been lowered by 15 mm and the active suspension system retuned to match. Standard 20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels cover cast iron brakes measure 360 mm at the front, 330 mm millimetres at the rear. As an option, Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB) with tungsten carbide coating or the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) can be fitted for improved braking response and longevity. The brake calipers are painted red on the standard system.

Bespoke appearance

The new Porsche Macan GTS has a standard Sport Design package with new front and rear trim and sculpted side skirts. The front apron and front section feature black painted elements – a distinguishing feature of all Porsche GTS models. The LED headlights and the three-dimensional rear lights with LED light bar are also darkened. Black is also on the diffuser and the tailpipes.

Porsche Macan GTS cabin

Alcantara is used on the seat centre panels, the centre console armrests and door panels. This is complemented by brushed aluminium inserts on the interior. A multifunction sports steering wheel with the steering wheel rim in smooth leather and shift paddles is standard. Sports seats, exclusive to the GTS with eight-way adjustment, are also standard.

Expect the new Porsche Macan GTS to appear on SA roads in a matter of weeks.
