One of the criticisms of the newest Toyota Supra (usually from those who haven’t driven one) is that the sportscar lacks power. Well, if you feel that the 250 kW offered as standard isn’t enough then you could opt for the Manhart Supra GR 450, where 450 equals its power output in horsepower.

BMW heart

Manhart is better known for its tuned BMW creations so the Supra (Read our Toyota GR Supra driving review at this link.) is not a giant leap from its usual fare. It’s no secret that Toyota partnered with BMW to create the fifth generation of its famous sportscar. Any development work that has been carried out to upgrade the latest generation BMW Z4 (read our initial driving impression here) can easily be carried over to the A90 Supra.

The first point of revision in the Manhart Supra GR 450 was its BMW-sourced 3,0-litre inline-six. Thanks to the company’s MHtronik powerbox or an ECU remap the B58 engine now pumps out 331 kW of max power. Peak torque has been increased from 500 to 650 Nm. A stainless steel rear silencer with valve control ends either in black or carbon-fibre exhausts tips.

Meaner looks

Manhart didn’t stop with just the power increase. To help deal with the added oomph the Manhart Supra GR 450 can be fitted with lowering springs by H&R or a KW Variant three-way adjustable coilover suspension kit. The suspension upgrade is complemented by new double-spoke alloys. These measure 9×20-inch at the front and 10,5×20-inch on the rear axle. The larger alloys are shod with 265/30 and 285/30 tyres, respectively. Manhart also dresses up its latest creation with a vinyl set that includes decorative stripes and accent lines in red.
