German tuning house Manhart produces unique and powerful machinery. Examples include this horrendously quick Porsche with 626 kW and this extremely fast BMW 8 Series. This week we feature a very special BMW, called the Manhart MH4 GTR of which the company will just build one example.

Limited-edition

The base for the Manhart MH4 GTR is the already limited-edition BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition. Only 200 DTM Champion Editions were produced by BMW to celebrate success achieved by the brand in its domestic touring car series. The donor car is already quite extreme in execution. It has a partial roll-cage, two race buckets and an aggressive aero kit. In standard trim the turbocharged inline six produces 368 kW with 600 N.m of torque.

Massive power hike

Manhart gave the BMW motor a good working over and the S55 engine now features a CSF intercooler, aluminium charge pipes, a new carbon intake from Arma and two new downpipes without catalytic converters. The exhaust system is a freer flowing set-up, with variable flaps, that ends in a quartet of 100 mm carbon-fibre tips poking out from a diffuser made of the same shiny, lightweight material. The end result of the upgrades, which also includes a software remap, is 521 kW of power and a whopping 980 N.m of torque. While Manhart doesn’t quote any performance claims, we suspect it will fast, with a capital F.

Racy appearance

The Manhart MH4 GTR looks the part, too. A carbon-fibre front spoiler has dive planes on the outer edges. Carbon-fibre is the material of choice of the bonnet rear wing and rear spoiler. Bespoke 20-inch Concave-One rims are finished in silk matte black and shod with Michelin Cup 2 rubber. Manhart has forgone its usual black and gold livery in favour of a BMW Motorsport-inspired appearance. In the cabin occupants sit in Recaro race seats covered with leather. An Alcantara M Performance steering wheel and plenty of visible carbon-fibre makes the MH4 GTR feel like a racecar.
