The folks from SantAgata have been busy of late. About year ago they unleashed the latest V12 supercar. The hybrid Urus SUV followed. The Italian sportscar manufacturer pulled the wraps off the Lamborghini Temerario this week. The latest ‘entry level’ sportscar from Lamborghini made its public debut at Monterey Car week currently taking place in California.

The Temerario is a genuine ‘fuoriclasse’: a car in a league of its own, an extraordinary and innovative vehicle both from a technical and stylistic point of view. Every new Lamborghini must surpass its forerunners in performance terms, while at the same time being more sustainable from an emissions standpoint. With the Temerario, we have completed a key chapter in the electrification strategy included in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan: we also become the first luxury automotive brand to offer a completely hybridized range

No More V10

The Lamborghini Temerario is the replacement for the Huracan. The Huracan and its predecessor, the Gallardo, were both extremely popular. Both were powered by naturally aspirated V10 engines. The replacement is, however, unique in that it is the brand’s first ever plug-in hybrid.

Lamborghini already let slip all the info regarding the Temerario’s powertrain a few weeks ago. In case you missed it, the newest ‘Bull’ has a V8 mounted behind the cabin. The all-new 4,0-litre unit has twin-turbochargers and can rev to a dizzying 10 000 r/min. The engine features cast aluminum alloy cylinder heads and titanium connecting rods. Additionally, three electric motors supplement the petrol-fed engine.

E-Power

The Lamborghini Temerario is all-wheel drive, like its predecessors, except there is no mechanical link between the engine and front wheels. Electric motors, one per side, power the front wheels. The third motor is coupled with the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Total system power is rated as 677 kW. But what does this mean in terms of performance? Lamborghini says the Temerario can blast from 0-100 km/h in 2,7 seconds and that the top speed is quoted as 343 km/h.

The Temerario has 410 mm carbon ceramic brakes as standard with 10 piston calipers up front. The electric motors on the front wheels recoup energy under braking. The wheels measure 20 inches in front and 21 inches at the rear. There are a multiple styles on offer as well as carbon-fibre rims as an option.
