About 400 vehicles are expected to line up at the prologue on 31 December. All eyes will, as always, be on the cars division. The Dakar Classic category has really grown in 2023 with the field swelling to about 100 vehicles.

Other Classes

Sam Sunderland will be the main man in the two-wheel category. He is fast and consistent on his KTM. The ongoing war between Russia and the Ukraine will make its mark on the 2023 Dakar Rally. The dominant Kamaz team will not be at this year’s race. This opens the door for any one of a number of teams that have run in the wake of the all-conquering Russian outfit for several years.
