It’s been a few weeks since we featured a drag race video from UK website Car Wow. The last two we hosted on our site both featured a Formula One car. The F1 racer raced a Bugatti Chiron (video here) and it then faced off against a few highly modified machines (video here). This week the channel has lined up a twin-turbo six-cylinder drag race featuring two cars from Japan and one from Germany. The protagonists are a Nissan GT-R Nismo, Honda NSX and Porsche 911 Turbo S.

The feature cars don’t immediately seem like rivals, each with its own unique styling, and probably created to appeal to different buyers. However, they are quite close in execution. Each car features a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine. The NSX adds a hybrid component for good measure.

Engine placement also differs in each car. The GT-R has its engine ahead of the cabin, with a transaxle between the rear wheels. Honda has placed the engine in a mid-rear location, ie behind the cabin but ahead of the rear wheels. Porsche uses its tried and trusted rear-engined layout.

Power is directed to all four wheels through a dual-clutch transmission in each case. The Nissan GT-R Nismo has six forward ratios, the Porsche has eight and the Honda has nine. Each car has launch control to get it off the line with minimal fuss. Which do you think is going to win the twin-turbo six-cylinder drag race?
