Here is our customary Monday Motorsport Round-Up. This week we feature FIA F3 and World Rallycross.

FIA F3

The dynasty continues. Mick Schumacher, son of multiple F1 champion Michael and nephew of multiple F1 race winner Ralf, claimed the European F3 championship; a feat that his father managed 28 years ago.

Schumacher had a slow start to his F3 campaign but matters took a real upswing after he won at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. He then began a run of nine podium places of the next 12 races. To date, he has managed to stand on the podium 13 times in 29 races.

In September, he racked up five straight wins to seize control of the drivers’ championship and was crowned champion on Saturday with a race meeting to spare.

“It’s hard to describe, I’m just grateful, I’m living my dream,” Mick said after the race on Saturday. “The title was my goal from the beginning, I never stopped believing it. We drivers do what we love. And when it is successful, it is the best feeling you can have.”

By winning the F3 title Schumacher junior has qualified for an FIA super license, which is a prerequisite for a Formula One drive.

FIA World Rallycross

Johan Kristofferson (VW Polo) claimed a record-breaking 10th win of the 2018 season, his 8th in a row when he won the FIA Rallycross event in Germany. He shared the podium with Mattias Ekstrom (Audi) and Andreas Bakkerud (Audi). Kristofferson was already crowned 2018 FIA World Rallycross champion at the previous round in the USA.

Team PSRX Volkswagen Sweden are team champions for 2018.
