Cars were made to be driven. That seems like an obvious thing to say, but with the escalating value of classic cars, few are being enjoyed in the manner intended when they were created.

GT Classic 2019 could present a unique experience to really enjoy your classic car over some of the best racetracks and scenic roads South Africa has to offer next year.

A trip like no other

Speedstream Events, hosts of the South African Historic Grand Prix Festival late this year, is arranging the GT Classic. This event will cater for road legal sports and sports racing cars built between 1950 and 1975.

Be sure to read about this classic Alfa Romeo racer.

Modelled on international events, the event promises to be an adventure as it spans nearly 3 000 km of  South Africa’s best roads, racetracks, and scenery over eight days.

The part-race, part-time trial, part-tour style event will comprise two sections: one for those intent on the touring experience; the other for the more competition-minded participant who wants to exercise their classic car a little harder. Limited spaces will be filled by international and local entries, promising an eclectic mix of cars from a golden era of sports and GT cars.

Beautiful route

With beautiful scenery and excellent roads South Africa is an idyllic setting for like-minded enthusiasts to enjoy spirited driving and good camaraderie in classic machinery. Underlining this adventure will be luxurious hotels with warm hospitality and magnificent food and wines.

Running from 1 to 9 November 2019, the event will start in Johannesburg and wind its way down to Cape Town over eight days of classic motoring to remember.
