There is no shortage of ridiculously quick supersaloons on the market these days. However, the tuning industry is built on folks who want something more special, that looks different or has more power. The Brabus 900 Rocket E63S provides all of the above.

Long-standing

The speed meisters from Bottrop have a long-standing tradition of ramping up performance of cars that come from Stuttgart (you can see some of their earlier work at this link). They have applied their special treatment to everything from the A-Class hatchback to the monstrous G-wagen in recent times.

Now they have created the Brabus 900 Rocket E63S, not to be confused with the earlier 800 also based on the E63S. It’s not as though the standard Mercedes-AMG E63S is a slouch. It produces 450 kW and a stonking 850 N.m of torque from a twin-turbocharged 4,0-litre V8, but for some, that’s not enough.

Larger engine, more boost

Brabus have increased engine displacement of the supersaloon. Engineers have dropped in a new crankshaft, conrods and pistons for a new swept volume of 4,5-litres. In addition, company has also fitted two new turbochargers of its own design as well as large bore exhaust system to expel more air.

The new air compressors help lift peak boost to 1,4 bars. As a result is peak power is now 662 kW (900 hp) with a monstrous peak torque figure of 1 250 N.m. Brabus turns this down to ‘just’ 1 050 N.m to protect the drivetrain. The best part of the modifications is that they are covered by a three-year or 100 000 km Brabus tuning warranty.

The increased outputs mean the supersaloon (should it be hypersaloon?) can sprint from rest to 100 km/h in a lightning quick 2,8 seconds a full 6/10ths quicker than standard, or 18 per cent quicker. In addition, 0-200 km/h takes 9,7 seconds. Top speed has been raised to an electronically limited 330 km/h, 30 km/h higher than standard.

Aero optimised

Brabus designers went into the wind tunnel to develop carbon aerodynamic components to generate additional downforce at high speeds. The bespoke kit is available in exposed or polished carbon-fibre. It consists of a front lip spoiler with raised flaps at the sides to reduce front-axle lift at high speeds. There is also a subtle lip spoiler on the trunk lid and carbon-fibre diffuser on the lower section of the rear bumper to balance extra downforce at the front.

The Brabus 900 Rocket E63S rides on bespoke 21-inch forged wheels with a ten-spoke design. The front items measure 21×9 and are wrapped with 265/30 rubber. The rears are 21×10,5J with 305/25 tyres. The standard air suspension lowers the ride height of the sedan by about 20 mm. The Brabus 900 Rocket can be ordered as a complete car or the company will convert any current Mercedes-AMG E63S.
