Zenvo is not as well known as Pagani or Koenigsegg. But the Danish small scale automaker will soon be making waves with a new car called the Aurora. The Aurora will debut in a few weeks, but Zenvo has just released info on its V12 powerhouse.

Danish Soul, German Engineering

Zenvo may be Danish, but it has chosen Mahle as its partner for the production of the V12 engine. The engine is not a race engine adapted for the road, this is a road engine and will meet emissions regs wherever the car is up for sale. Oh, and as for the name on the valve cover, we suspect its a reference to Mjölnir, which is Thor’s hammer in Norse mythology.

V12 Quad Turbo

Zenvo says that the unique powertrain is a ground up engine design, built for road use and will be the world’s most powerful road going V12 engine. The V12 powerhouse will displace 6,6 litres. It will also feature quad-turbochargers. The ICE unit alone will produce 933 kW at 8 000 r/min. It will rev to a maximum of 9 800 r/min.

An additional 448 kW of electrical power will complement the ICE unit. The total system output will be a whopping 1 380 kW (or 1850 bhp in old money). This output should endow the Aurora with staggering performance. The Aurora will reportedly tip the scales at 1 250 kg. This is due to the extensive adoption of lightweight materials including carbon-fibre.

In His Own Words

Commenting on this partnership, Zenvo’s chief commercial officer and chairman of the board, Jens Sverdrup, said: “As an automobile enthusiast and industry professional, I have always strived to achieve the pinnacle of powertrains in the form of a V12 engine. The unmatched emotions and sensations it evokes, are what sets it apart as the ultimate choice for supercars and hypercars.

“Collaborating with Mahle Powertrain, the most adept and knowledgeable engine developers in the industry for V12s, has been a dream come true for me. And judging by customer feedback, it is a dream shared by every automobile enthusiast out there.”
