You probably don’t know who Tyler Witte is, we certainly did not before we started working on this piece. Thanks to the wonderful rabbit hole that is YouTube, we stumbled upon videos created by Witte and a few of his buddies. We’ve chosen our two favourites and shared them at the bottom of this post, but feel free to check out the rest of his portfolio on his channel.

Well known but seldom seen

We are pretty sure this is not the first time you’ve seen Tyler Witte in action. The stunt performer and precision driver has worked on many Hollywood blockbusters. His portfolio includes Avengers Endgame and Infinity War, Black Panther, Fate of the Furious, Baby Driver and the recent Netflix original movie Extraction.

Homegrown

In his own short movies Tyler Witte drives a GC8 Subaru. The older shape Scooby is a two-door version with a 2,5-litre motor. The boxer engine is fed by a Garrett GT3076 turbocharger that helps it produce over 330 kW. It’s a far cry from the wild machine that was created by Travis Pastrana for Gymkhana 11. Power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed transmission. The car uses custom subframes front and rear. Those juicy rally style rims are Turbomacs from Fifteen52 and shod with semi-slick rubber.

There’s some pretty slick driving in both videos, and yes, we realise that these are similar in execution to Ken Block’s Gymkhana series. However, these are shot with a small crew of people, mostly friends of the driver, with most of the stunts conceived, directed and executed by Witte. It’s a pity that he isn’t as well known for his own driving skills, let’s try to make him famous by sharing his videos around.
