At the very start of the 2024 season it was announced that Scuderia Ferrari had signed Lewis Hamilton. The arrival of the seven-time world champion meant that someone had to leave. Charles Leclerc is a product of Ferrari’s driver development program, so everyone knew it was ciao for Carlos Sainz.

A Successful Tenure

The Spaniard moved to Ferrari from McLaren. He spent four years in red. During this time he took part in 88 races. He won four times, taking six pole positions and 25 podium finishes. As a result he scored 900,5 points. Were it not for the arrival of the most successful F1 driver of all time, Sainz would probably have remained at the Italian team. As it turns out, he is heading for Williams where he will partner Alex Albon from 2025.

A Festive Ferrari Farewell

The parting of ways seems to be quite amicable as Ferrari hosted the Sainz family at the company’s Fiorano circuit a few days ago. There, they rolled out two examples of the 2022 F1-75s. The company allowed Carlos Sainz Senior to drive a similar car to that which his son claimed his first-ever F1 victory (British GP 2022). The younger Sainz joined his father on track for, what will be, a memory to last forever.

Later the same Ferrari fired up a 735 LM for the Sainz duo to drive. The reason Ferrari chose this car? It was made in ’55, the race number with which the younger Spaniard competes in F1.The classic racer competed in the famous Mille Miglia in the hands of Piero Taruffi. Additionally it raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Pictures on social media showed that the Sainz family and friends enjoyed a typical Italian lunch at the Montana restaurant in Maranello after the driving duties were completed.
