The motorsport division of Geely formerly known as Polestar, Cyan Racing, and new Chinese-Swedish automaker Lynk & Co have laid claim to two lap records on the Nurburgring Nordschleife – a lofty accomplishment on a stretch of tarmac that’s widely regarded as the ultimate proving ground for performance vehicles.

Earlier this year we brought you a few of the front-wheel drive sedan’s specifications, but just in case you forgot, it’s powered by a turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder that produces 394 kW and 540 Nm of torque – sent to the front axle’s 20-inch alloys via a six-speed sequential transmission and limited-slip differential.

After gruelling testing sessions in the rainy season and enduring an especially hot European summer, the Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept, piloted by 2017 World Touring Car Champion Thed Bjork, set a fastest lap of 7:20.143 – beating Jaguar’s record for four-door cars by 3 seconds and blitzing Renault’s front-wheel drive record by 25 seconds.
