There are no automakers that boast the same motorsport legacy as Mercedes-Benz. The German company is celebrating 130 years of racing history this year with special events. This Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport is another way the company is earmarking this milestone.

Ultra-exclusive
Just 13 units of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport will be produced. The concept is based on the company’s GT3 racer, but this version is not eligible to race. This means that they are all destined for private collections.
The Edition 130Y Motorsport is powered by the same 6,3-litre engine as the FIA-approved race machines. However, without the need for intake restrictors the naturally aspirated V8 produces 500 kW. A six-speed, full-race sequential transmission sends power to the rear axle.
Bespoke Appearance
The exterior colour is a special silver tone. The specific livery takes its cues from the W194 300SL of 1952. There are blue accents on the front, down the flanks and rear, as well as an AMG crest on the roof. This look references the brand’s victory in the 1952 Carrera Panamericana. The interior is even more retro with a specially developed steering wheel that has anodised buttons and walnut handles. The seat is upholstered in original blue chequered fabrics as seen in the 300 SL racecar.
The 130Y (sounds like a Datsun, doesn’t it?- Ed) makes extensive use of carbon-fibre components along with magnesium wheels to drop its mass as much as possible. As a result it is the lightest Mercedes-AMG GT3 version of all time with an unladen mass of 1 275 kilograms.
