RenaultSport has made some of the finest hot hatches to ever go on sale to the public. The performance arm of Renault has provided us with many entertaining models that have been more than a match for rivals from other brands. But that will soon end as the parent company will pull the plug on RenaultSport. All future models will be released under the Alpine badge. However, the Renault Megane RS Ultime is one final hurrah before the curtains are drawn.

Limited Edition
RenaultSport will produce just 1 976 Ultime hatchbacks. That figure is a nod to the year that the in-house performance division was launched. Good news for local fans of La Regie is that Renault South Africa has confirmed that a limited number of the last Renault hot hatch are heading our way later this year.
Eye-Catching
The Renault Megane RS Ultime features a unique double-diamond graphics motif. Matte black stripes are applied to the bonnet, front doors, rear bumper and the roof. Less obvious changes include wider fenders, with the the window frames, door handles, doors, rear diffuser and fender caps all finished in black.
Mechanically Speaking
A 224 kW/420 N.m 1,8-litre turbocharged engine powers the Ultime. RenaultSport says its final hot hatch can sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in just 5,7 seconds. Fuji lightweight 19-inch alloys are shod with Bridgestone Potenza S007 semi-slicks. Brembo dual-cast brakes are standard.
