The Toyota Crown is a long-standing nameplate for the Japanese automaker. In fact, fifteen generations of the luxury sedan have been produced over 67 years of its existence, yeah, sixty-seven. This week the company pulled the wraps off an all-new Toyota Crown. Well, it is four new versions of the Crown. The all-new Toyota Crown will be rolled out to around 40 countries and regions. One of the versions is expected to be introduced into SA around the first quarter of 2023.

Four Flavours

Four body styles of the all-new Toyota Crown will be available in various market (as pictured). These are the Sport, Sedan, Estate and Crossover. It is the latter that Toyota SA has confirmed will be coming to our market. The interiors are said to be welcoming with colours and materials used that convey a sense of warmth and luxury.

All four versions are based on the company’s GA-K platform. This means they all have high-end components like multi-link rear suspension and adaptive variable suspension. They each measure about five metres long, which should provide plenty of passenger room.

Two Powertrains

The company has also confirmed that there will be two powertrain options for the all-new Toyota Crown. Both versions are hybridised with electric motors. All-wheel-drive capability is provided by the battery powered motors that are mounted on the rear axle. We are not sure which of the two will be coming to SA.
