Watch a VW Polo TV advert banned from being shown in the UK

This VW Polo TV advert banned from airing in the UK by authorities for showing dangerous driving, according to six complainants.

Volkswagen has landed in hot water over a recent television advert that was aired in the UK. Six complaints were filed against the advert, which people complained encouraged bad driving. The complaints also claimed that the ads were irresponsible by exaggerating the benefit of the vehicle’s safety features.

The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) agreed with the complainants and ruled that the advert must be taken off the air and revised before being rebroadcast.

“We concluded that the dependency on the advanced safety systems exaggerated the vehicle’s safety features and the overall tone of the advert encouraged irresponsible driving and was in breach of the code,” said the ASA.

It seems innocent enough to us. VW tries to paint the image of a youngster who is accident-prone while growing up and now that he finally has a driver’s permit needs a car with many safety systems to ensure the safety of himself and those around him.

We’ll let you decide for yourself as the ad can still be viewed on YouTube:
