UK automotive site Car Wow has a knack of pulling together some truly unique drag races. Some of their highlights include this Bugatti Chiron vs Formula One car match-up. This week they have arranged a Toyota Touring car drag race featuring two new and one old racecar.

Representing the current touring car series in this Toyota Touring Car drag race is the 2021 contender in the British Touring Car championship. The Corolla hatch is powered by a 2,0-litre turbocharged four that produces 276 kW and 400 N.m of torque.

Next year’s touring car is also in attendance. The future racer features a similar powertrain but also boasts a hybrid component that adds 30 kW for short bursts. Both Corolla hatchbacks are front-wheel driven and send power to the ground through six-speed sequential transmissions.

From the past we have every Japanese fan’s drift dream machine, the Toyota AE86. This championship-winning car is powered by the well-known 4A-GE engine. When new the 1,6-litre naturally aspirated four made 137 kW of power with 190 N.m of torque. Power is sent to the rear axle through a five-speed, H-gate manual transmission. The oldest car weighs a scant 800 kg, versus 1 270 kg of the two newer models. As much as we are fans of lightweight, RWD Japanese cars we know the AE86 doesn’t stand much of a chance.
