This must be one of the most interesting cars that made its public debut at the 2022 Sema Show. The crazy part is that this mid-engined Mustang was a rendering before it was turned into a reality by US custom shop B is for Build.

Virtual…

The mid-engined Mustang was first imagined by Karanadivi, as you can see from the Instagram post below. The digital artist was trying to court controversy by imagining a Mustang with a mid-mounted Ferrari engine. Little did they realise the car would one day be shown at one of the world’s largest automotive shows.

… reality

B is for Build obtained a chassis that featured under a Bugatti Veyron replica in the forgettable big screen title Need For Speed. The chassis with a Chevy LS V8 changed hands a few times after the movie was done before it ended up with B is for Build.

The chaps from the custom shop obtained permission from the digital artist to turn the virtual car into a reality. It took them countless hours of work to fabricate a Mustang body to fit over the bespoke chassis. Finally, the car was ready to be shown to the world at the 2022 Sema Show, but not before one more mishap as you can see in the video below.

Not Original

As you can see from the images (courtesy of Holley), the mid-engined Mustang has a semblance of the original Pony Car about it. However, it is far from original. The lines are sharper and the fenders are massively flared. This means that it rides on custom wheels that are 12-inches wide with a -140 offset on the rear. Oh, and the motor sits behind the occupants.
