Swansong

The Lamborghini Aventador has been the range-leading sportscar for the Italian automaker for over ten years. From the very beginning it has been powered by a naturally aspirated V12. The engine has been tuned and uprated over the years to deliver increasing amounts of power with each subsequent iteration.

No fewer than five versions of the supercar have been lined up for this mega Lamborghini Aventador drag race. They span the range from the ‘regular’ Aventador, the S, SV, SVJ and finally the Ultimae.

Not much difference

Each car has the company’s tried and tested 6,5-litre V12. Power starts at 515 kW with the Ultimae boasting 574. There’s a 30 N.m difference in torque output between the most and least powerful. In each case power is sent to all four wheels via an automated transmission. Launch control is standard fare, which allows for full-bore starts from the line.
