Hyundai seems to be on a high-performance charge of late. We know that the firm has produced an extremely capable hot hatch called the i30 N. Ahead of the 2019 SEMA show the Korean automaker shows us the Hyundai Veloster N Performance. The concept car will be on show to the public at the aftermarket showcase taking place in Las Vegas next week. Check out a wacky Hyundai Drift Bus in action here.

N treatment

For those who don’t know, N is Hyundai’s performance brand, the same way that RS applies to Audi or M does to BMW. For the SEMA show Hyundai has applied its N treatment to the Veloster hatchback.

All the items applied to the Hyundai N Veloster Concept are bolt-on. From an aesthetic point of view, the show car has parts from KWA. These include a bonnet with ait intake, grille garnish, fog lamp garnish, front splitter, side sills, rear spoiler, rear diffuser and outside mirror covers. More changes take place in the cabin. These include an Alcantara gear knob boot, steering wheel lower bezel, parking lever, air vent surround, headliner and pillar liners, N-branded door sill covers, Sabelt Alcantara and carbon sport seats, an aluminium gear shift knob, red engine start button, coloured seat belt webbing and sport floor mats.

Performance upgrades

Aiding the appearance and handling are Extreme Racing dampers with H&R coil springs, Daewon steel anti-roll bars (front and rear), WIF chassis brace (front, centre and rear) and aluminum caliper brackets, Alcon forged six-piston front brake calipers with four-piston rear brake calipers acting on 380 mm front rotors and 360 mm items, respectively. OZ forged racing wheels 19 inches in diameter and are shod with Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres measuring 235/35 R19. The final upgrade is Capristo cat-back anodized exhaust tips. Hyundai hasn’t specified,  but it seems power from the turbocharged 2,0-litre engine remains unchanged at 202 kW.
