V12 power

The Ferrari Enzo was launched in 2002. It was a limited edition model that followed on from the F50. Supposedly on 400 were produced. Powering the Enzo is a naturally aspirated V12 engine that displaces 6,0 litres. Power is rated as 485 kW with 660 N.m of torque. Drive is sent to the rear axle through a robotised manual transmission ie it has no clutch pedal.

It’s hard to believe but the Enzo’s successor, the LaFerrari, was released in 2013. It is also powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine that is supplemented by an electrical drive component. Total power is quoted at 708 kW with 900 N.m of torque. Drive is also sent to the rear axle, but it passes through a dual-clutch transmission.

The outcome may be pretty easy to guess, but it is great to see the older car being driven hard and not pickled in a museum. Also, it is interesting to note the pace of progress from one generation to the next within the same manufacturer.
