DUB magazine is probably one of the most influential titles in the US aftermarket scene. Every year an auto manufacturer partners with the publication to produce a custom car for the world-famous SEMA show. This year they produced the DUB Kia Stinger. Click here to see other DUB custom cars.

A Sting in the tail

For those who aren’t aware, the Stinger is Kia’s halo model. It has a twin-turbocharged, 3,3-litre petrol engine that develops 272 kW of power and 510 N.m of torque between 1 300 and 4 500 r/min.

That force-fed V6 is mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. Stinger is the most powerful and fastest-accelerating production Kia ever sold. It boasts a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 4,9 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h.

Rolling on Dubs

DUB has made a series of modifications to the KIA Stinger GT. First up they fitted a wide body kit, that was then wrapped in Avery Brushed Steel with carbon-fibre accents. LED lighting, an under hood dress-up kit, air suspension and tinted windows help to further differentiate the meanest Stinger.

As befitting of its name, the DUB Kia Stinger rolls on 22-inch Dropstars forged wheels. The front Nitto tyres measure 245/30/22 and the rears are 265/30/22. Red leather and black suede upholstery upgrade the Stinger’s already driver-focused cockpit.

A custom exhaust and air intake give the DUB Kia Stinger GT some aural presence. Of course, a custom audio system is in place to belt out one’s favourite tunes.

The DUB Kia Stinger was one of a few Kia models that were specially prepared for the SEMA Show, but it’s the only one we receive in SA.
