The Detroit Grand Prix took place this past weekend. The road course in downtown Motor City played host to several categories on the makeshift track. As is usual with street circuits, there were crashes aplenty, but none as will be as weird as this bizarre IMSA crash.

Weird Turn of Events

The bizarre IMSA crash took place during the Pilot Challenge support race to the weekend’s featured Indy Car event. Two GT4-spec racers were heading down the long straight towards the track’s only hairpin. The fast-approaching BMW M4 seemed to have a technical issue, or very cold tyres when it ploughed into the Aston Martin ahead.

The momentum, and probably tyre/suspension geometry, sent the M4 into and onto the Vantage. The Beemer then landed on the outside tyre wall. The driver simply floored it and drove off the wall and back onto the track, as if he was in a video game. Both cars went on to, unsurprisingly, retire from the race.
