A few weeks ago we brought you a sketch of Audi’s upcoming, range-leading Q8 (see story below). Just yesterday Audi released a front view (which we’ve added to the gallery above) of the new concept, due for release in a few weeks.

Original story:

Over the last year we’ve seen the Audi Q8 in different concept car forms (see images of blue and orange car above). Audi has been teasing us with versions of an upcoming model that will spearhead its family of SUVs.

Closer to reality

Just a day ago the company launched yet another teaser image providing a few more details of what the upcoming coupe-esque SUV will look like. The company refers to it as an “SUV with coupe design”.

We can see a body-wide brake light motif, similar to that of its Lamborghini Urus cousin, wide rear haunches, a sloping belt line and exhaust finishers that look quite close to production items.

Expect the massive wheels and tiny side mirrors to make way for more user-friendly items.

Check out another cool Audi concept car here.

All-new model

Until now Ingolstadt’s top SUV has been the Q7. The Audi Q8 will compete with similar models from Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

In all likelihood, the Q8 will be based on the same underpinnings as the new generation Q7, which utilises the firm’s MLB platform. Expect the two model lines to be quite similar with a raft of engine options. Quattro all-wheel drive will be standard fare.

Interesting launch

As opposed to the usual launch roll-out strategy, Audi has chosen to debut its new car in a self-produced series called Q8 Unleashed.

You can follow the entire, five-part series at this link. We also added links to Episode 1 and Episode 2.
