The Toyota Fortuner is SA’s top-selling SUV. The Hilux-based model offers the traits that make it a firm local favourite. Now, there is a new variant to help increase its appeal even further, and it’s called the Toyota Fortuner Epic. Toyota SA will offer two versions of the new addition: the ‘standard’ Epic and Epic Black. The latter utilises black accents to differentiate it from other others. The Epic package will be applied to all Fortuner 2,8-litre GD6 derivatives. Toyota SA has also made two changes to the line-up. The 4,0 V6 has been discontinued and manual transmission Fortuner models have been deleted from the range.
The exterior of Epic variants has been enhanced with the fitment of a branded nudge-bar and tow hitch for added practicality. Epic Black models feature a dual-tone design with black roof, black roof rails, black side-view mirrors and model-specific, all-black 18-inch alloy wheels. The high-contrast elements are exclusively combined with Glacier White paintwork on the Epic Black. Epic variants can be had in Glacier White, Chromium Silver, Graphite Grey or Avant-Garde Bronze.

Epic-branded metal scuff plates and carpet set remind occupants they are seated in the special model. Standard features include a leather interior and soft-touch dashboard trim. The interior seating layout remains unchanged, with elevated 2nd and fold-up 3rd-row seating.
The usual 2,8-litre Fortuner specification still applies to Epic derivatives, including dual-zone climate control, smart entry and push start, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, reverse camera, TFT Multi-Information display, cruise control, remote audio controls, power-adjustable driver seat and an electrically powered tailgate. All Fortuner models are equipped with ABS, TRC, VSC, BAS, EBD and Hill Start Assist (HAC).
