You’ve no doubt heard the name Pininfarina at some point if you’re a car enthusiast. The automotive consultancy has penned some pretty dramatic cars, many of them wear the Ferrari badge. The Italian firm is busy readying its own hypercar. Pininfarina announced today that it will be called the Battista.

Battista was the name of the company’s founder. The newcomer will make its public debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Read a bit more about the upcoming model in our earlier story by clicking here.

Most powerful Italian

Pininfarina claims that the limited-edition hypercar will be the fastest and most powerful car ever designed and produced in Italy. The Battista will have over 1 400 kW and 2 300 N.m of torque, according to the company’s most recent press release.

It is claimed that the Battista will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than two seconds. Top speed is rated at over 400 km/h. The best part is, the company is claiming it will have a range of over 480 km. Those performance claims place it in direct competition with the likes of the Rimac C_Two.

The sleek body will be fashioned from lightweight carbon-fibre. A maximum of 150 Battista units will be produced from late 2020. Depending on the market, pricing will vary between U$2m and U$2,5m. 50 cars are currently allocated to the USA, 50 to Europe and 50 to the Middle East and Asia region.

In his own words

Paolo Pininfarina, chairman, Pininfarina SpA, said: “This is genuinely a dream come true. My grandfather always had the vision that one day there would be a standalone range of Pininfarina-branded cars. This hypercar will boast world-beating performance, technological innovation and of course elegant styling. For me, we simply had to call it Battista. His dream becomes reality today as we link our glorious past with the future of motoring.”
