Ford has a long and proud tradition of rallying around the world. They have slid and sloshed through dirt stages with cars such as the Escort, RS200, Focus, Fiesta and most recently the Puma. The one Ford we’ve not associated with rallying is the Mustang. But the Blue Oval plans to change that with the release of the Mustang Mach-E Rally.

A New Stance

For those who don’t know, the Mach-E is a battery powered SUV that carries the name of the famous Pony Car. It has already been on sale for a few years in the US and Europe. The Mustang Mach-E Rally is a second derivative of the SUV, which will go on sale early next year.

Rough and Ready

The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally has a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, a raised suspension, and a bespoke styling touches as standard equipment. The 19-inch rally-style alloys are shod with 235/55 Michelin CrossClimate2 rubber for better grip on loose surfaces.

The racy appearance is complemented by a standard pair of stripes down the entire length of the car. Contrasting accents include upper and lower body mouldings, a unique front splitter, black painted steel roof, and rally-inspired fog lights. Oh, and there’s a Focus RS-inspired rear spoiler.

More Power

The two electric motors – one per axle – are employed in the Rally. Ford is targeting a combined power output of at least 360 kW along with 880 N.m of torque. The powertrain has a unique RallySport Drive Mode designed for off-road driving. It also has 385 mm front brake discs with Brembo calipers.
