Formula 1

The Austrian F1 Grand Prix turned out to be quite an exciting and dramatic race. Pole sitter Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) suffered mechanical failure, but only after having relinquished the lead to his team-mate. Hamilton was also side-lined with car trouble. Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) had a relatively trouble-free run to the flag after his team-mate, Daniel Ricciardo also had car trouble, which ruled him out of the running. Verstappen shared the podium with Ferrari drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel.

FIA World Rallycross

Defending champ Johan Kristoffersson pulled off another dominant performance in the 2018 FIA Rally Cross series. On home soil he captured the sixth round yesterday extending his points lead 40 points. Andreas Bakkerud and Jerome Grosset-Janin were second and third, respectively.

“It’s the fifth (win of this season), so for sure, everyone is getting sweeter and sweeter,” said Kristoffersson, who has earned the maximum 30 points in each of the last three rounds. “I really had to fight for this one. It’s a tough track. It’s a challenging track for the car and the team. I felt more and more comfortable in the car the longer the race was going on. In the semi-final, the car was just perfect. In the final, the tyres were getting very hot after 12 laps. But it just feels amazing—another 30 points which is the most important.”
